Studying your opponents
It is useful to study your opponents and their points of view carefully. This is not a one-off exercise, it's an ongoing process. Your opponents and the nature of their opposition are likely to change over time, and your response will need to change as well. If you have the resources, an in-depth investigation will have the most value. But even an informal investigation can help.
Find out how legislation is made in your country
Read company publications and annual reports.
Read newspapers regularly.
Find out what your opponents have done in the past.
What are their favorite tactics?
What are their resources?
What are their strengths and weaknesses?
Who are their key decision-makers?
Why are they opposing you?
What power do they have?
